Amidst this COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have to stay away from the traditional workplace. With a computer and a stable Internet connection, you can get anything done virtually anywhere. Why not make that “anywhere” be in Belize? Work from home is nothing like working in a tropical paradise like Belize!

Belize isn’t known for business travel, but it’s about to be. Belize offers beautiful scenery, a relaxed atmosphere, and a quiet environment perfect for working remotely.

Here are my tips for the ultimate workcation in Belize:

  • Make Sure You Have Good Internet Connection

Ask your accommodation what their download and upload speeds are (there are free websites to test this). Many hotels have prioritized having great Wi-Fi for just this purpose, but not all have. For example, in 2019, Muy’Ono Resorts invested heavily in increasing Wi-Fi speeds at all hotels, even on private islands so if you’re trying to do some work in Belize, that’s totally possible at one of the Muy’Ono Resorts!

  • Make Time in Your Schedule

There are so many amazing experiences to have in Belize. Unless you’re staying for a while, it’s unlikely you’ll get to experience it all in one trip. Make time in your schedule to go on a Belize Barrier Reef snorkeling tour, explore the local farmer’s market, or go for a walk on the beach. If you plan correctly, you’ll be able to get a full workday and some fun in the sun. In general, Belize is not a late-night country, so try waking up early to get more out of your day.

  • Choose Your Location Wisely

Belize has many beautiful destinations, each with its personality. Take the time to research what adventures you want to experience while in the country, then choose your location based on proximity to the things you want to do the most. Being close to the attractions you want to do will make them way more accessible on a tight schedule.

  • Time is Relative

Remember that you may be in a different time zone so, you will have to update your calendar accordingly. Also, remember that you are on island time. Whether you are grabbing lunch or going on a tour, you should not be in a hurry. Expect things to take longer than they do at home. With the right expectations, this is not a problem.

  • Don’t Forget to Have Fun!

You may be working in Belize, but you’re still on vacation!
